The Kansas Council on Developmental Disabilities announces $95,000 in available funds for innovative projects in the areas of employment, housing and recreation for individuals with developmental disabilities. EMPLOYMENT:
It is the intent of the Council to invest up to $10,000 each for 6 or more projects (total of $60,000) in innovative employment solutions that result in gainful opportunities for employment, including self employment, of individuals with developmental disabilities. A marketable business plan with sound prospects for success must be included in the application.
HOUSING:
It is the intent of the Council to invest up to $25,000 for one innovative project that will provide information and tools to help adults with developmental disabilities access affordable housing in communities of their choice. Among other activities, the successful applicant will work with an advisory board of Council members to develop a website that will increase knowledge about existing homebuyer programs and address barriers to homeownership.
RECREATION:
It is the intent of the Council to invest up to $10,000 for one project that will identify and reward models of inclusive community recreation. The successful applicant will work with an advisory board of Council members to develop an application and recognition process.
